Welcoming Remarks: The Dawn of Energy Law Connections!

1:00 – 1:10 PM

Welcome and overview of workshop mission, vision and goals, brief administrative announcements, and acknowledgement of sponsors.

Energy Operations Go Beyond Visual Line of Sight!

1:10 – 2:00 PM

As the Federal Aviation Administration continues to take a crawl-walk-run approach to beyond visual line of sight uncrewed aircraft system operations, the energy sector seems to be jogging! This panel of energy industry-focused experts will discuss the groundbreaking technologies, myriad of proven use cases and first-of-their-kind regulatory waivers as well as the challenges that remain for the energy industry to truly scale BVLOS operations. Topics will include updates on the FAA’s BVLOS Aviation Rule-Making Committee Report, the 2023 FAA Reauthorization Act and more!

Clearing the Air - How Advanced Tech Contributes to Methane Compliance

2:00 – 2:50 PM

Oil and natural gas companies face a wide plume of legal methane detection and mitigation requirements at both the federal and state levels. This panel of the top energy industry and legal minds will discuss those requirements and the satellites, drones and robots that the energy sector has increasingly turned to for comprehensive solutions. Discover the unique legal issues that also swirl around these tech solutions as they help drive the winds of change.

Break

2:50 – 3:10 PM

Navigating Legal Swimlanes by Air and Sea for Off-Shore Energy

3:10 – 4:00 PM

The use cases for uncrewed and autonomous vehicles in support of the off-shore energy market, on, under and above the water’s surface, are as endless as the sea! These operations, including ship-to-shore and ship-to-ship deliveries, underwater inspections, and more, potentially span domestic and international waters and skies. This expert panel will dive deep into the legal, regulatory and policy issues implicated in these multi-domain operations and the ocean of “rules” that apply.

A Holistic Approach to Securing Energy Infrastructure

4:10 – 4:50 PM

Natural disasters, cyber incursions and intentional physical attacks all can detrimentally impact energy infrastructure and operations. This panel of thought leaders will address the threat spectrum, the best all-domain security practices (e.g., counter-drone, AI cybersecurity, drone + uncrewed ground vehicle/UGV/drone dog models) and how to implement them within current legal requirements and constraints. Discussion will include an overview of federal and state-level legislation and regulations, as well as common private sector policies, relevant to uncrewed security and cybersecurity operations.
